Getting Down to Essentials: Ylang Ylang Oil

No, you are not seeing double.  Ylang Ylang is the name and it is pronounced EE-lang, EE-lang. This popular essential oil comes from the brilliant yellow, fragrant flower petals of the tropical Ylang Ylang tree, which is native to Indonesian and Philippine tropical forests.

Even if you are not familiar with its name, you are with its scent. Ylang Ylang is a key top note – an ingredient that gives a perfume its unique scent - in Chanel No 5, arguably the world’s most famous perfume.

Used in many products

With a delightfully sweet, flowery pungent smell that is like Jasmine, Ylang Ylang essential oil is a favorite for use in body care, cosmetic and perfume products. The essential oil has an uplifting effect on mood and induces feelings of joy and hope. Inhaling the sweet floral aroma of Ylang Ylang oil can relieve stress, anxiety and depression and relax the body.

Because of its pleasing smell, Ylang Ylang oil has become a favorite for aromatherapy. It blends particularly well with bergamot, grapefruit, lavender and sandalwood essential oils
